As we head into the second quarter, the days are getting shorter, the novelty of being back to face-to-face classes is wearing off, and teachers, students, and families continue to grapple with a variety of stresses, including those related to COVID-19. So, now’s a good time to check in with ourselves and our children about mental health.
Parents and guardians: Make an extra effort to talk with your child(ren) this month about how they are feeling. Ask about what they are feeling good about, and what may have them worried. As much as possible, try to be available to listen when they are ready to talk.
If you or your child(ren) need help: Don’t forget to take advantage of the excellent services provided by the Student Services team at East Meck. The Student Services team includes counselors, social workers, and psychologists. They are able to set up appointments for students at school during school time, or by phone, or online.
