East Mecklenburg High School Parent Teacher Student Organization (EMHS PTSO) is dedicated to the development and success of the students and the support of teachers and staff at East Mecklenburg High School. The goals of the organization are to foster a sense of community, facilitate communication, encourage volunteerism, provide resources, and advocate for the needs of the EMHS community.

EMHS PTSO EXECUTIVE BOARD MEMBERS – OFFICERS
President
Ryan R., dad to a trio of IB students at East Meck (10th and 12th grades) and Piedmont (8th). Big fan of EMHS soccer and marching band…and the diversity, community spirit, and food of East Charlotte!
Vice President
Stacy W., proud mother of four, including a senior IB student and soccer player at East Mecklenburg High School. She is passionate about traveling and deeply committed to serving nonprofit organizations and school communities. She is excited to be a part of the East Meck community and looks forward to contributing wherever she can!
Secretary
Alison P., mom to three kids — a senior at East Meck, an 8th grader at Piedmont, and a 3rd grader at Chantilly Montessori. She’s an active volunteer at all three schools (used to be a CMS teacher & feels strongly that school staff deserve ALL the support for the tough/important/amazing job they do!), works full-time as a mental health therapist, and loves outdoor adventures!

John B., proud dad of a junior at East Meck. 20+ years in Finance with the last 7 years primarily focused on automation. So yeah, I know SUM things about Excel.

Angela D., mother of a 2026 East Meck graduate and junior band musician. Currently work in marketing/PR but formerly an East Meck English teacher in the early 2000s! Grateful that my children can attend such an amazing school. Love kayaking, hiking and anything outdoors.

Tarra Z., a native Charlottean whose parents are East Alumni! I am a proud Mom of 3 daughters. My middle daughter is a 2025 who loves chamber choir, drama and Battle of the Books. Oldest is an East Meck graduate that currently attends UNCW and was an All Conference Lady Eagle softball player. My youngest is a tenth grader. I work as a certified ASL interpreter and love being involved in various communities!

Karen K., mom of a 2026 East Meck graduate and sophomore. She has filled PTO roles at both Randolph Middle and Lansdowne Elementary, and loves being involved at East. When not volunteering, she enjoys traveling, needlepointing, playing Mahjong, cheering on her kids from the soccer sidelines, and working as a Registered Nurse.
Staff Events & Appreciation
Karen B., originally from Los Angeles, CA, moved to Charlotte in 2015 looking for better schools and a slower pace of life. She is now the proud parent of a junior at East Meck. Karen has spent the past 9 years volunteering at her kids’ schools in positions such as Hospitality, Copy crew, Event planning and Character Ed representative. In her spare time she enjoys baking, hiking, listening to audio books, and home improvement projects.
Student Advocacy
Mary Louise O., mom of a East Meck junior, a Piedmont 7th grader and a Shamrock 4th grader. Mary Louise works full time as a social worker and is excited to partner with the EM community to support the incredible work of our EM teachers, administrators, social workers, counselors, and–most importantly–our students! Go Eagles!
