East Mecklenburg High School Parent Teacher Student Organization (EMHS PTSO) is dedicated to the development and success of the students and the support of teachers and staff at East Mecklenburg High School. The goals of the organization are to foster a sense of community, facilitate communication, encourage volunteerism, provide resources, and advocate for the needs of the EMHS community.

Chelsea M., mom of a rising freshman soccer player and 2023 graduate of the IB-diploma program. She loves family, friends, adventuring, good books, and witty conversation. She is an avid public school supporter and big fan of East Meck!

Treasurer
William T., proud Dad of a recent graduate and a rising sophomore. Enjoys soccer and mountain biking. Looking forward to serving the East Meck community.

Advisor
Carola C., proud mom of a rising Senior who also plays flute in the band! She is an amazing and intelligent human who takes lots of AP and honors classes. Born in Venezuela and native Spanish speaker, who loves to connect people of diverse backgrounds especially around food!

Jennifer S., mom to a junior in the IB diploma program. Graduate from East Meck in 1987 (after moving from NY my senior year). RN at CMC, I like to travel, hike, cook and relax.

Tracy B., proud mom of a Freshman daughter in the IB program, and avid soccer player. Active volunteer with the Monroe Road Advocates (MORA) and a NC REALTOR. I am looking forward to serving the East Meck community by helping further develop relations with our local businesses.

Hasty M., my children have grown up in the IB program at Lansdowne and Randolph. I have been an active member of the PTSO throughout the years. I enjoy reading and cooking.

Danielle S., mom of a freshman (IB program) on the Eagles wrestling team, junior (IB program) on the Eagles varsity basketball team, and a 7th grade son. She is a risk management professional in the banking industry who enjoys trying new recipes, being outdoors, and relaxing with her family and dog.

Grant Writing
Mary Beth A., mom of a junior on the varsity basketball team and in the IB-diploma program. Evaluation and assessment consultant for nonprofit cultural orgs and museums in the Carolinas who likes traveling, hiking, and being on the water.

Hospitality
Christina D., mom of Sophomore and Senior daughters, and a 5th grade (future Eagle) son. Hats I wear: Interior Designer, traveler, antique & consignment shop junkie, dance Mom, softball Mom, soccer Mom, swim Mom, beach lover, and food/wine enthusiast. I am looking forward to a great year on the PTSO!

Ann G., mom of two Junior students, one who runs Cross Country and one who is the goalie for the East Field Hockey team. East Meck Alumna. Small business owner and huge fan of everything East Meck. NC State graduate. Avid football fan and sports fan in general. The mountains hit the happy button. Kale hits the unhappy button. Sharing life experiences by traveling and simply hanging out with the family is the best thing ever!

Parent GPS (Navigating East Meck)
S. Y. M.-W., My husband and I are the parents of an 11th Grader in the IB program and are proud East Charlotte residents. As a teacher’s kid, education advocacy is an integral part of my persona. Being able to combine a science and healthcare background with my legal training affords me the unique opportunity to pay it forward in service to the PTSO Board and the East Meck community.

Parent GPS (Navigating East Meck)
Lorree R., mom of a sophomore at East; enjoys finding opportunities to increase communication and interaction between families and schools. In addition to volunteering and working as a psychotherapist, she enjoys reading and dabbling in creative projects.

School Improvement Team (SIT) Liaison
Maria P., mom of a junior swimmer/golfer in the IB-Career Path program and a sophomore soccer player in MYP. I’m a huge fan and advocate of public school in general and East Meck specifically, and own a small business called write4college to help seniors write the best college essays they can! I enjoy reading, bargain hunting, and traveling with my family.

Karen K., mom of a rising sophomore and 7th grader. She has filled PTO roles at both Randolph Middle and Lansdowne Elementary, and is looking forward to being involved at East. When not volunteering, she enjoys travel, reading, watching her kids play soccer, and working as a Registered Nurse.

Angela H., blessed mom of two daughters, a ninth grader at East Meck and a senior in the Charlotte Teacher Early College. I am a first generation American of Mexican heritage and a native Charlottean. Family means everything to me and I enjoy serving my East side community, especially when young people, our future, are involved.

Beth H., proud mom of a rising Junior who is heavily involved in the theater and chorus programs and will represent East Meck on the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Youth Council this year. Elementary teacher in CMS and an Alumni of East Mecklenburg who believes in the public education system. Beth’s interest include Broadway shows, travel, cooking and reading.

Deyna R., mom of a junior and a freshman in the IB program at East Meck as well as a fifth grader. She’s filled many PTA positions in elementary and middle school and is excited about this one. You can usually find her cooking, reading a good book, driving a soccer carpool, or cheering on her Clemson Tigers.

Kelly S., proud mom of two daughters. One daughter is an IB 2023 graduate headed off to App State and the other is a rising IB sophomore. Both girls are/were very involved at East Meck participating in many sports and clubs and have tons of school spirit. I am a nurse. I love to travel with my husband and daughters, love to hike, take trips to the beach and mountains and love going to concerts. I can’t wait to be a part of PTSO.

As a mom of two and an elementary school teacher, I know the importance of parent involvement. That’s why I’m excited to serve on the board this year!
