Your Support in Action

Thanks to YOUR generous donations to the PTSO…

  • To cap off Staff Appreciation Week 2023, your PTSO provided the staff with the Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream Truck! It was a big hit and we hope it made our staff feel as appreciated as they truly are. Thank you for your financial support in making this week’s events possible, and to our phenomenal Staff Appreciation team, D’yette Spain and Damita Rhodie, for their continued creativity and hard work on all the Staff Appreciation events this school year.
  • May 8-12 was Staff Appreciation Week at East Meck, and our dedicated PTSO volunteers kicked off the week with a breakfast for our staff.
  • Your PTSO was pleased to sponsor a 360 degree photo both for Decision Day 2023 on Monday, May 1. Students were invited to the auditorium to celebrate their decisions for post-graduation: employment, trade school, military, or university.
  • Thank you note received from Ms. Miller, EMHS Counselor, for the PTSO’s financial support in suppling the 360 degree Photo Booth for Decision Day 2023. Your support makes these things possible!
  • Your PTSO was able to provide financial support to the EMHS Avian Robotics team by ensuring that the students were fed during their state competition weekend. Parent Advocate S.Y. Mason-Watson shared, “Avian Robotics and PACO have safely returned home to EMHS after a 1st time appearance at the FIRST NC State Championship in Greenville, NC. The team demonstrated strength, determination and perseverance during 12 qualification matches across two days of intense competition. They were AMAZING and FIERCE! While Avian did not qualify for “Worlds,” which is a reference to the FIRST Championship in Houston, they will continue to hone their skills in robotics, recruit new members for the 2024 season and relish in their fond memories of the 2023 season and their multiple flights with PACO! Please continue to support Avian Robotics at EMHS.”
  • Your PTSO was proud to help sponsor our very own French teacher, Ms. Dawn Young, in attending the 2023 Trois-Rivières French Convention. Ms. Young is the current President of the American Association of Teachers of French. She was able to attend the conference and bring back even more educational ideas to teach our East Meck Eagle students. Thank you and congratulations, Ms. Young! And thank you to our PTSO parents for YOUR financial support that made this grant possible.
  • Your PTSO was pleased to purchase a paper shredder for our school nurse, Ms. James, so that she can safely dispose of confidential medical information. Thank you for YOUR financial support that helps our Health Room have the equipment that it needs to best support our staff and students.
  • Your PTSO was excited to be able to support this year’s inaugural UJAMAA event through its Grants Program. Thank you for your financial support that made this monetary support possible. We are all already looking forward to next year’s festival. Congratulations to event organizers Roshni Thamatur and Rina Sauceda and the East Meck Diversity Committee on a fantastic event.
  • Your PTSO gave our teachers a delicious and HOT holiday breakfast in December before winter break.
  • Principal Parker presented each staff member with an East Meck embroidered winter beanie at the December holiday party. (And doesn’t Ms. Cooper look adorable?)
  • The PTSO delivered goody bags to say thank you to our EMHS counselors for National Counselor Appreciation Week!

We appreciate your support!
